Government Circular:-
The brick kiln workers, building construction workers and the labourers from sugar factories in the state of Maharashtra tend to migrate in search of work. The fact that with these migratory labourers their entire families too migrate has been noticed. The pregnant mothers, breastfeeding mothers and their children in the age group of 0 to 6 years from these families do not get health and nutrition related facilities and protection. In view of this fact, the obligation to take care of the following matters is now imposed upon the contractors or building developers.
01. The contractors or building developers are required to construct sheds and toilets and to provide provisional amenities, such as drinking water facility, crèche etc. for the pregnant mothers, breastfeeding mothers and their children in the age group of 0 to 6 years, related to the labourers working on the sites of large buildings.
02. For this purpose, the aforesaid conditions should be incorporated in the Construction Agreements or in the Building Permission Letters to be executed or issued by all Authorities.
All Planning Authorities should ensure that the aforesaid conditions are scrupulously complied with.
