Preface:-

            In case of loss of human lives in attack by tigers, leopards, bears, bison, wild boars, wolves, hyenas, foxes, crocodiles, elephants and wild dogs (Dhol),  amount of financial assistance is paid to the concerned parties as per the provisions of Government Resolutions Dated 02/07/2010, Dated 30/03/2013, Dated 29/05/2013 and Dated 16/01/2015. Moreover, in case of death/disability/injuries to cows, bulls, buffaloes, sheep, goats or other livestock in attack by the aforesaid wild animals, the amount of financial assistance is paid to the concerned parties as per the provisions of Government Resolution Dated 11/11/2016. As the amount of financial assistance paid for the loss of human lives or death/disability/injuries to livestock in the attack by wild animals is inadequate, the Government contemplated the matter of raising it. Moreover, the Hon’ble Minister (Finance and Planning, Forests), Maharashtra State, in his Reply to the debate on Supplementary Demand during the course of second (monsoon) session of the Legislative Assembly of the year-2018, made an announcement on 09/07/2018, promising to raise the amount of financial assistance paid for the loss of human lives and loss of livestock in the attack by wild animals. In furtherance thereof, the Government has resolved as hereunder:-

Government Resolution:-

                 1. In the event of loss of human lives, as well as death of livestock in the attack by tigers, leopards, bear, bisons, wild boars, wolves, hyenas, foxes, crocodiles, elephants and wild dogs (Dhol), the financial assistance as described hereunder should be paid.  

In the event of death, permanent disability or serious injury to a person, the Financial Assistance as described hereunder should be paid.

As far as possible, medical treatment should be taken in a Government/Zilla Parishad Hospital.

Compensation to be paid in the event of death/disability/injuries to livestock

[3]In case of permanent disability of animals such as cows, buffaloes, bulls50% of the Market Price or Rs. 12,000/- (Rupees Twelve Thousand Only), whichever being less.
[4]In case of injuries to cows, buffaloes, bulls, sheep, goats and other livestockExpenses incurred for the medical treatment should be paid. Medical treatment should be taken in th Government/Zilla Parishad Veterinary Hospital. The limit for amount payable is 25% of the Market Price or Rs. 4,000/- (Rupees Four Thousands Only) per animal, whichever being less. The aforesaid compensation should be paid on the basis of certificate issued by the Veterinary Medical Officer.  

                 2. Of the Amount of Financial Assistance to be paid to the heirs of the persons killed in the attack by wild animals, Rs. 3,00,000/- (Rupees Three Lakh Only) should be paid promptly by a cheque and the balance amount of Rs. 7,00,000/- (Rupees Seven Lakh Only) should be credited to their Joint Fixed Deposit Account in a Nationalised bank yielding monthly interest.

                 3. The other Terms and Conditions vis-à-vis the grant of Financial Assistance to the victims and heirs of the deceased in the event of death/disability/injuries caused in the attack by wild animals shall be as per the Government Resolution in the Department of Revenue and Forest, bearing No:-WLP-10.08/Pra.Kra.270/F-1, Dated 02/07/2010, Government Resolution in the Department of Revenue and Forest, bearing No:-WLP-2012/Pra.Kra.337/F-1, Dated 30/03/2013 and Government Resolution in the Department of Revenue and Forest, bearing No:-WLP-2012/Pra.Kra.337/F-1, Dated 29/05/2013.

                 4. The Terms and Conditions vis-à-vis the grant of Financial Assistance to be paid due to death/disability/injuries of livestock caused in the attack by wild animals shall be as per the Government Resolution in the Department of Revenue and Forest, bearing No:-WLP-0915/Pra.Kra.305/F-1, Dated 11/11/2016.

                 5. The aforesaid provisions are hereby made applicable with effect from the date of issue of this Government Resolution.

                 6. The said Government Resolution has been issued pursuant to Informal Reference in the Department of Finance, bearing No:- ViVi/Shikana/212, Dated 11.07.2018.
